An exciting opportunity has arisen within the JMC Aviation, the world’s leading Aviation recruitment business.

Based in Exeter, we are now seeking an experienced Commercial Director to oversee our commercial operations and drive business growth.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective strategies to expand our client base, maximise revenue, and enhance our market presence. The Commercial Director will lead a team of professionals, develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

Strategy Development and Implementation:

– Develop and execute the commercial strategy in alignment with the company’s overall objectives

– Identify market opportunities, evaluate industry trends, and design strategies to capitalise on them

– Drive business growth through new client acquisition and expansion of existing account

– Monitor competitor activities and recommend adjustments to the strategy to maintain a competitive edge

Sales and Business Development:

– Lead the sales team in achieving revenue targets and growth objectives

– Build and maintain relationships with key clients and strategic partners

– Identify potential clients and develop effective sales strategies to secure new business

– Negotiate and close high-value contracts, ensuring favourable terms for JMC

Client Relationship Management:

– Establish strong partnerships with clients, understanding their requirements and providing tailored solutions

– Collaborate with the operations team to ensure client satisfaction and timely service delivery

– Proactively address client concerns and manage escalations to maintain positive long-term relationships

Team Leadership and Management:

– Recruit, develop, and motivate a high-performing commercial team

– Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members, developing a culture of excellence

– Set performance targets, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement training programs to enhance skills

Financial Management:

– Develop and manage the commercial budget, ensuring financial targets are met

– Monitor revenue streams, analyse financial data, and identify areas for improvement

– Implement effective pricing strategies and manage contract negotiations to maximise profitability

Marketing and PR:

– Oversee and align the marketing function to supporting new client acquisition

– Oversee the PR function to deliver key messages to the right markets at the right time

– Ensure staff are motivated to deliver high performance, manage budgets and achieve social media targets

Contracts:

– Develop process for negotiation and management of contracts to ensure favourable terms and ongoing contract reviews

CRM:

– Set exacting standards for CRM compliance. Be a champion of CRM and ensure that there are exacting standards of user participation   

– Spearhead the continuing development of CRM to drive client acquisition and retention

General:

– Ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations

– Identify and manage risks within the Commercial function of the business

– Other duties as required by the business

Person Specification:

Essential:

– Good understanding of all JMC services and the market we operate

– Ability to undertake challenging conversations

– Proactive and self-motivated
