About the Role
On behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the aviation industry, we are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer in Bishops Stortford. The role consists of the Creation of Manufacturing Planning Instructions of aircraft work from customer drawings and bills of material into sheet metal and machined piece parts, sub-assemblies, and top-level assemblies, including the co-ordination and sourcing of any tooling requirements.
Key Responsibilities Summary
- Review all new and repeat orders to confirm requirements, feasibility, and compliance before release.
- Interpret customer drawings/specifications and translate quality/regulatory needs into a clear method of manufacture.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, ensuring all records are logged in line with the company Quality Management system.
- Build bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and operation plans for parts and assemblies, selecting the most appropriate techniques and sequences.
- Set up and manage jobs in the MRP/ERP system (from customer/internal orders or system job suggestions)
- Produce job travellers and compile complete job packs (drawings, BOMs, customer-supplied conditions, process sheets, etc.)
- Raise material and subcontract/AGS procurement requisitions and coordinate with the shop floor to resolve manufacturing/engineering issues and improve methods.
- Liaise with customers’ manufacturing/design engineers, support the Engineering Manager, and assist with NCR/RCCA close-out and other production engineering needs as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline (Preferred but not essential).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aviation.
- Strong communication skills
- Catia V5 knowledge advantageous
- Organised and able to manage workload
- Previous experience of MRP/ERP Software would be an advantage
- Right to work in the UK
