Supporting Candidates with Rotary Aviation Roles: FAQs

Back to news

At JMC Aviation, we specialise in connecting skilled aviation professionals with high-quality opportunities worldwide, across the entire breadth of the aviation industry. Alongside our established commercial and bizjet aviation recruitment services, we also support candidates in the rotary market, including helicopter engineering and CAMO positions.

What kind of experience do you require for rotary roles?
We recruit for B1.3 and B2 Licensed Engineers and CAMO professionals, but we are aware of many candidate’s desire for progression. Therefore we are delighted to work with many customers who offer on-going development opportunities as well as Type Courses.

Are the roles you are recruiting for in the defence sector?
Currently our rotary positions are focused on Search & Rescue, HEMS and MRO environments, but we are consistently growing our presence in this space!

Are there transferable skills from commercial aviation that would be applicable to working on helicopters?
Absolutely. Many structural, mechanical, electrical and CAMO skills from fixed-wing environments transition seamlessly into rotary roles, particularly in unlicensed positions. If you are unsure about how your existing skills and expertise may apply to a role in the rotary market I’d love to hear from you – contact me today to discuss your existing experience Jamie.Priestman@jmc-aviation.com.

What sorts of roles are you recruiting for? Is it mostly contract or permanent?
We are currently recruiting exclusively for permanent rotary aviation vacancies, including B1.3/B2 Licensed Engineers and CAMO staff.

How long is the recruitment process for the roles you are recruiting for?
We move quickly and aim to keep all candidates informed at each stage of the recruitment process. Interviews are often booked within a week of submission, making our rotary recruitment process rapid and efficient.

What are the most common or attractive type ratings for rotary roles?
Current in-demand type ratings include Agusta Westland (AW109, AW139, AW169, AW189), Airbus Helicopters (H125, H145, H225) and Bell 212/412.

Whether you’re an experienced helicopter engineer or looking to move from commercial aviation into the rotary market, JMC Aviation can guide you through the process and secure your next role, whether on-going professional development is your goal, or wanting to secure a contract that offers the best possible work/life balance for you.
