As we conclude our celebration of National Aviation Week, we hear from David Broadbridge, Head of Business Development as he tells us about his long standing career in Aviation.
Tell us about your time at JMC Aviation
This is my second time of employment at JMC Aviation, I originally joined in 2012 to set up and manage a satellite recruitment office in Cambridge, UK, spending 6 great years working to grow & manage our business on a global scale. Since re-joining early 2021, I am now the Head of Business Development working a hybrid role remotely and from our Hitchin, Hertfordshire office.
What do you find most exciting about working in the industry?
I have been in aviation since leaving school more years ago than I care to mention, and it is difficult to pinpoint one thing I find most exciting about the industry. Aviation gets in the blood, the people you meet from so many differing cultures, the challenges our industry faces and finding solutions to tackle such challenges, make it the most exciting and rewarding industry to work in.
What do you think has changed the industry the most?
Our industry is cyclable, in that we have faced many adversities over the years that has affected us i.e., economic & social issues such as wars, financial downturns, pandemics such as Covid, political effects such as Brexit. But each time the industry bounces back and grows to new highs. Currently I would have to say the lack of suitably skilled manpower available across the world is forcing major changes to take place in the industry, an obstacle JMC Aviation are actively trying to address.
Presently we see a significant focus on training, upskilling and attracting new engineers into the aviation maintenance & manufacture sector. If we can match the demand air travel currently has on our industry, then the future looks extremely healthy.
