JMC Recruitment present successful IR35 seminar and urge aviation companies to prepare now

Back to news

Trusted supplier of global aviation manpower and talent services, JMC Recruitment, hosted a successful IR35 seminar in March 2020 held at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport, designed specifically to help companies manage the new IR35 legal changes specifically within the aviation industry being implemented on 6 April 2020 (now postponed until 6 April 2021).

With the IR35 reforms bringing significant changes affecting the aviation industry, JMC responded following consultations with aviation customers, by developing an innovative IR35 solution to ensure reasonable care is taken in the management of the IR35 process – along with organising an informative IR35 seminar.

JMC’s Managing Director, Hollie Prendergast, commented: “It was interesting to hear the challenges and concerns that aviation companies have about the upcoming reform to the off-payroll working rules, and understanding employment status. We hope the event proved informative and thought provoking for all who attended. Our innovative IR35 solution is in place to help aviation companies and our team of experts are available seven days a week to offer practical advice and business support to help you prepare for IR35 changes. Please get in touch.”

The purpose of the event was to assist aviation companies with their interpretation of the IR35 tax rules and what they need to do to prepare their businesses and limited company contractors ahead of IR35 being implemented into the private sector.

JMC’s Managing Director, Hollie Prendergast, and Head of Operations, Jamie Portt, both led the practical IR35 seminar covering the new IR35 off payroll working, the UK contractor market and the launch of JMC’s innovative IR35 solution. Attendees also learnt about the potential tax implications and data security.

Jamie Portt introduced JMC’s bespoke IR35 solution developed in accordance with JMC’s established IS0 9100 (Aviation Quality Assurance) and IS0 9001 Quality Management processes. The purpose of JMC’s responsive IR35 solution includes interpreting the guidance notes with a strong understanding of the determinations within the aviation industry and ensuring that reasonable care is practiced in the undertaking of individual status determination statements. The solution also helps manage determinations consistently across large scale multi-site operations.

The all-day event was attended by an IR35 leader and key organisations within the aviation industry representing airlines, MROs and OEMs. Feedback from the event was very positive; attendees found the seminar to be very engaging, informative and lively. It was also an excellent opportunity for aviation companies to receive first-hand advice on any concerns specific to their businesses from an external IR35 professional. As a result, key clients have booked JMC to implement its IR35 solution over the coming weeks.
