JMC are working with a MRO company based in Newquay, looking to recruit a new Lead Mechanic to join their team.
This client is a leading MRO dealing with line and base maintenance as well as interior modifications and fuel systems repair and maintenance for both commercial and military aircraft. The company has been operating for close to 30 years, providing outstanding customer service and encouraging a warm, positive environment to aid employee progression.
This is a Permanent Position based in Newquay, working 0700 – 1900 on a 5/5/4 shift pattern.

The Role:
The primary purpose of this role is carry out maintenance tasks to correct, ensure accurate completion of company & Third-Party paperwork and report directly to the Hangar Manager.
Other duties involve:
– Manage and monitor your bookings and those of your team to ensure accuracy and efficiency, including indirect control to acceptable level
– Ensure you and your team work safely with regarding to Health and Safety, COSHH and company procedures.
– Consider cost reduction within maintenance facility, initiatives to deliver cost reduction, and improve efficiencies.
– Be proactive in housekeeping standards with your work area/Hangar, to deliver a professional environment that meets both internal and external customer expectations.
– Demonstrate an awareness of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
– Promote a safety culture within the workplace.
– Demonstrate a commitment to report safety concerns.
– Have an understanding of Aircraft Structural Drawings
– Have an understanding of Tool Control, promote within teams and understand the lost tool procedure.
– Ensure tooling used for tasks are returned to Tool Stores in a timely manner.
– Ensure all ground equipment is serviceable prior to use and that defects are reported.
– Ensure engineers on your team are actively completing their passports and assess their development.
– Monitor Contract staff to ensure they are suitable for employment and keep the Check Manager informed of their performance.
– Inspect parts to customer design data ready for dispatch and first off operations.
– Measure components with various hand tools
– Ensure compliance with inspection procedures.
– Produce inspection reports as necessary.
– Keep relevant inspection records updated.
Skills and experience required:
In order to be successful in this role the Lead Mechanic will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
– Background in Base Maintenance
– Current aircraft mechanic preferred
– Supervisory experience desired
– Able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
