About the Role
The responsibility of this role is to carry out detailed mechanical inspection of aircraft components, parts and assemblies to confirm compliance with approved data, customer requirements and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming work and final inspection (including release to service) of aircraft components, parts and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, approved repair data, work instructions and customer specifications.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, fit and condition using appropriate calibrated tools and equipment.
- Carry out detailed visual inspection for wear, corrosion, damage, cracking indicators, deformation and other defects.
- Confirm material, process and traceability documentation aligns to job requirements.
- Complete inspection records, job cards, certificates and release packs clearly and accurately.
- Raise non-conformance reports and support investigation, containment and corrective actions.
- Work closely with production, planning, engineering and supply chain to resolve quality or technical issues quickly.
- Support internal and external audits
- Micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges, thread gauges, radius gauges and surface finish comparators.
- CMM and digital measurement systems where available.
- Use of precision measuring techniques appropriate to aerospace tolerances.
- Typical component exposure
- Machined parts, sheet metal items, brackets, housings, shafts, pins, bushes, fasteners and assemblies.
- Components returned from service requiring assessment against the CMM, SRM and OEM drawings.
Candidate Requirements
- Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Inspection related training desirable.
- Experience within an EASA Part 145 or Part 21 environment is an advantage.
- Right to work in the UK
