The Maintenance Technician, Level III, is a senior-level role responsible for leading maintenance projects, coordinating with multiple departments, and ensuring timely return-to-service (RTS) of aircraft. With a minimum of six years of relevant experience, this role requires expertise in aircraft systems, CFR regulations, and the ability to train and mentor junior technicians. The Level III Technician is accountable for managing tasks, overseeing inspections, performing final aircraft inspections, and supporting Maintenance Control to maintain alignment on project status and risk management. The Maintenance Technician, Level III, operates in a leadership role within the aircraft maintenance environment, overseeing project tasks, performing inspections, and ensuring all maintenance work complies with regulatory and safety standards. This role requires proactive communication and coordination across departments to ensure projects are completed on time and safely.

Duties:

  • Lead maintenance projects independently, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and within required timelines.
  • Assign daily tasks to technicians based on individual skill levels and experience, ensuring optimal task distribution.
  • Train and mentor less experienced technicians, providing guidance on complex tasks, and documenting on-the-job training (OJT) records using form TP04.
  • Coordinate with various departments (e.g., materials, inspection, and maintenance control) to ensure parts, tools, and resources are available to meet RTS schedules.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and inspections of aircraft systems and communicate findings and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Communicate directly with Maintenance Control to provide status updates and ensure alignment on RTS priorities and project timelines.
  • Identify and mitigate high-risk tasks that could negatively impact on-time RTS, ensuring safety and compliance are maintained throughout the maintenance process.
  • Conduct in-process inspections in collaboration with the Inspection Department to ensure accuracy and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Support final inspections and complete return-to-service (RTS) sign-offs for aircraft in compliance with CFRs and internal procedures.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with relevant CFRs (Title 14 CFR), inspections, and maintenance guidelines, ensuring all work complies with federal regulations.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Certified under Title 14 CFR Part 65 (Airframe and Powerplant license required).
  • Proven ability to lead projects independently and manage complex maintenance tasks.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems on aircraft.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable CFRs, MEL/NEF guidelines, and aircraft inspection methods.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work scope and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to train and mentor technicians, documenting their progress through OJT records.
  • Experience coordinating with various departments to ensure parts and resources are available without impacting scheduled RTS.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with Maintenance Control and other departments.
  • Ability to perform final inspections and return aircraft to service in compliance with FAA regulations.
  • Competency in performing aircraft engine ground runs and assisting in high-risk maintenance tasks.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with aircraft and engine maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient in performing tasks independently while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ability to input maintenance data and log entries into Corridor software in accordance with FAR Part 43 requirements.
  • Ability to manage high stress situations, and effectively change priorities
  • Excellent time management and organization skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance reference materials including Manufacturer’s Maintenance Manuals, Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Component Manuals, etc.
  • Experience using CMP and CAMP maintenance tracking programs a plus
  • Must be proficient in the operation of standard office equipment and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
