About the Role
JMC Aviation is currently recruiting for a Workshop Technician to join a busy workshop based within an aviation environment in Barry, Cardiff.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is looking to develop their technical skills within the aviation sector.
Working as part of the workshop team, you will be involved in the assembly, disassembly, cleaning, preparation, repair, overhaul and testing of components, ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards.
You do not need to be an experienced aircraft engineer. This position is suited to someone with a practical or engineering background, strong hand skills and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble components within the workshop.
- Strip, clean and prepare components for repair and overhaul.
- Carry out hands-on repair and overhaul activities.
- Test components in accordance with required procedures.
- Use appropriate hand tools and basic test equipment.
- Follow technical and maintenance information when completing tasks.
- Accurately complete relevant paperwork and documentation.
- Use company computer systems to record work and transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental procedures.
- Maintain required quality standards throughout workshop activities.
- Support other workshop and production activities when required.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and keen to develop their technical skills.
You should have:
- 3 GCSE passes in Maths, English and Science, OR a relevant NVQ, GNVQ or City & Guilds engineering qualification with one year’s vocational training.
- Good practical and mechanical hand skills.
- Confidence working with tools in a workshop environment.
- The ability to follow technical instructions and maintenance information.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
Desirable
- Previous workshop, mechanical, manufacturing, production or engineering experience.
- Experience using basic test equipment.
- Soldering or de-soldering skills would be advantageous.
Training & Development
Full training and mentoring will be provided.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop specialist technical skills and gain valuable hands-on experience within an aviation environment.
There is a structured development pathway, including the opportunity to achieve the relevant technician qualification within six months and work towards further technical certifications.
